In Roman's Words: A Side Few People Knew

I found these notebooks unexpectedly about three months following Roman's death. At the time, seeing his handwritten utterances reduced me to sinking sadness. However, enough time has passed that I can look at his words with perspective these days, and read them free of tears. I do not know when this was written or who it was written for. Though I do know that in retrospect, his words are now eerily prophetic.

Soon enough and once again
life will come apart...

All we are and what is left
are matters of the heart..
The life we had,
the life we knew
has gone and fade away
but the love I have,
and the love you're shown
is fast and here to stay.

The world is gone,
but love is strong.
A foundation to my heart.
I shall relive my life,
and start anew,
at my center shall be you...

Ever present, ever beautiful
you are the anchor that survived
the storms..

I had a life..
I do not miss it,
for it was without you..

I wish I had life changing words of comfort, but I fear that none could describe, well, anything. I just wanted to leave a comment to let you know I am reading and still astounded by your posts. Keep your chin up.

Thanks Kara! I'm doing okay...much better than I was when I started writing this blog back in October. Thanks for coming back time and time again. You rock!
One could go on and on speculating on this. It could even be said it was he himself he was without, because he didn't know himself because he didn't let anyone know him. It could be said that it was because he never let anyone close enough, and it was really a look into the future about his not regretting losing his life because he didn't allow himself to hold you close.

There are so many interpretations that one could go mad with all the possibilities. Take the one that brings you the most peace and leave the rest to fly away in the wind with the dust.

Enough time has passed that I don't rack my brain trying to figure his words out. His notebooks are not dated, so I have no idea when they were written. But no matter when they came to be, they represent a side of him that he almost never showed. How profound they turned out to be, really astounds me. I can't help wondering if some part of him sensed that he would die young. I'm happy to have a forum to share his words. He kept to himself so much in life that his words could easily have died along with him. But now in death, his writing can speak the words he was never comfortable uttering in life. And they are quite revealing as to his inner nature. He was human...Just like the rest of us.
Goodness. There's *nothing* like real handwriting and authentic thoughts. I have no words of comfort. But I did want to make sure that you knew that your words were read, your thoughts were heard.

I apologize in advance for leaving this as a comment, but I didn't see an e-mail or another form of contact with you. I definitely may have overlooked it!

I just wanted to let you know I've chosen you as the very first "blog spotlight" on my blog. In a post on Sunday, I will be naming you as the first blog as well as linking to you on the top of my homepage. I was just wondering if you wanted to write a couple of sentences in your own words about your blog for me to post along with what I'm writing on Sunday. Just e-mail me!
